Note: All the information in these guidelines will apply when UNI is officially launched and open to learners. You will be notified of the launch time.
1. Becoming an Instructor
At UNI, we are looking for passionate, qualified educators who are committed to delivering personalized learning experiences. Here's how to get started:
- Qualifications: Instructors must have relevant degrees, certifications, or experience. We value professionalism, passion, effective communication, and dedication to meeting students' needs.
- Subjects: You can teach any subject, as long as you can instruct in English. When setting up your profile, be sure to select all the languages you speak and indicate your proficiency level.
- Profile Setup: Complete your profile on uni-learn.online. Make sure to click "next" until your profile is fully completed. After that:
- We may contact you for a demo lesson or interview.
- Once approved, you will need to set up your availability in the calendar so learners can book lessons with you.
- Identification & Verification: The identification and certifications you upload will only be used for background verification. Learners won’t see these documents, but your profile will display "ID Verified" and "Certified" badges after verification. Your self-introduction video and key details will be visible to learners.
- Self-Introduction Video: This is crucial for getting bookings. Your video should be in landscape format and between 30 seconds to 2 minutes long. Make sure to highlight your strengths! More detailed requirements can be found on the video upload page.
- Use bold text and bullet points to emphasize your strengths and key qualifications.
- All learner reschedules and cancellations must be made at least 12 hours before the lesson starts. If learners cancel or reschedule within 12 hours, you will still be paid for that lesson.
- Payment Setup: Contact us via email or WeChat to provide your payment details. After signing up, a confirmation email will be sent to your registered address. Be sure to confirm your registration (and check your spam folder if necessary).
2. Conducting Lessons
Trial Lessons (25 minutes)
Trial lessons are a great opportunity to convert prospective learners into regular students. Use this time to assess their needs, build rapport, and showcase your teaching style.
- Commission for Trial Lessons: The commission rate for trial lessons is 100%, meaning instructors will not be paid for these sessions. UNI uses these earnings for marketing, platform maintenance, and feature development.
- Lesson Structure:
- Build Rapport (0-3 mins): Introduce yourself and make the student feel comfortable.
- Assess Student's Level (3-8 mins): Discuss their placement test or assess their level. Instructors should be familiar with the CEFR language proficiency levels (A1 to C2).
- Set Learning Goals (8-15 mins): Understand what they want to achieve.
- Live Lesson Activity (15-23 mins): Show your teaching method through an engaging activity.
- Feedback & Next Steps (23-25 mins): Give feedback and discuss the next steps for their learning journey.
Regular Lessons
After the trial, adapt your lessons to meet the student’s needs. Provide regular feedback, assign homework, and continually adjust your curriculum to keep them engaged. If a lesson cannot be conducted due to special circumstances, report it to the admin, and UNI will help resolve the issue. If you need textbooks or other resources, feel free to contact UNI for support.
3. Subscription Model
At UNI, learners subscribe to their instructors on a monthly basis. Here’s how it works:
